Common Control4 Problems and How to Fix Them

1. Unresponsive Remote (Flashing Red Lights)

One of the most frequent complaints is a Control4 SR-260 remote that stops working and flashes red. This typically indicates it has lost its Zigbee mesh connection to the controller.

How to Fix: Try power cycling the remote by removing the batteries for 10 seconds. If that doesn't work, reboot your main Control4 processor (usually the EA or Core series controller in an AV rack). Wait 5 minutes for the Zigbee mesh to rebuild. If this continues to fail, you may have a failed controller or severe network interference requiring professional Control4 repair services.

2. "Waiting for Network" on Touchscreens

If your touchscreens or app say "Connecting" or "Waiting for Network," your controller is offline or your home network is acting up.

How to Fix: Start by rebooting your router and network switches. Do not press the factory reset button on your router! Just unplug it from power for 30 seconds. If the issue persists, your system might need a static IP configuration checked by a professional.

3. Spotify/Music Not Playing

Sometimes digital music services log out or stop communicating properly due to API changes or network drops.

How to Fix: Open your Control4 app, go to Settings, and look for Music Services. Try re-authenticating your Spotify or Tidal account. A system reboot can also clear hung audio streams.
